About Vassula
“Do not stifle the Spirit, do not
despise prophecy, but test everything,- hold on to what
is good”.(1 Th. 5:19-21)
Who
is Vassula?
Cardinal Franjo Kuharic of the Archdiocese of Zagreb,
Croatia has answered this question well. "Upon receiving
Vassula Rydén and Father Michael O'Carroll at his residence
on February 3, 1995, he noted, Vassula, by her
own admission, was far from her religion. But she, like
Saint Paul on the road to Damascus, experienced a fundamental
conversion and became devout.
She travels the world evangelizing for Christian unity,
for obedience to the Pope, veneration of the Eucharist,
devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and especially,
to live a Gospel morality that springs from a profound
metanoia--a genuine conversion of the heart
and return to God." (Vercernji
List Evening News). February 3, 1991.
Vassula's Background
Vassula Rydén, raised a Greek Orthodox Christian, has lived most of her life in Third World countries. In 1985, when she began to receive these messages, she was an acclaimed artist and a skilled tennis player. The wife of a Swedish international development expert, she led a socially active, non-spiritual life until she was transformed by this "love Hymn from Heaven." The deep fulfillment and peace this grace has brought to her personally is evident in meeting her or hearing her speak. The messages come in dictation by an audible voice within, then are written in a stately handwriting -- distinct from her own -- as she allows her hand to be supernaturally guided. Responding to the Lord's request, she travels throughout the world -- at great personal sacrifice-- to share her experience and the messages. She receives no fees or royalties for her work.
Vassula has spoken over 800 times in more than 60 countries on 6 continents. Hundreds of thousands of people have been deeply touched by these messages. Bishops, priests, ministers, theologians, and Bible scholars believe that Vassula and her messages are indeed authentic; that God is through her, truly addressing each one of us -- irrespective of our beliefs -- at a time humankind so desperately needs direct Divine guidance.
"True Life in God" is a divine call to each
of us for greater repentance, reconciliation, peace,
love, and above all, unity within each of our hearts
and in the Church.
